So I tried different transformations based on the correspondences I got last week. The first I tried was an elastic transformation method:
Left Image/ Right Image/ Absolute difference
And I followed it up with a thin plate spline method:
Left Image/ Right Image/ Absolute difference
Pretty good, but not good enough for scientific purposes.
